The sociocultural epidemiology of the COVID-19 crisis across the globe

14 March 2023 13:15 to 15:00 Seminar

Raquel Garcia Plaza, a physician and doctoral student from Universidad de Salamanca, presents her research on the sociocultural epidemiology of the COVID-19 crisis in different parts of the globe.

Raquel Garcia Plaza's include quantitative analyses to understand what social, cultural, demographic, political and economic variables shaped the epidemiology of the Covid-19 infection around the world and the stringency of the governments' responses. She has also conducted interviews in four countries in Africa: Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique, and recently she interviewed people in Cuba. Thus, her research concerns how different populations have experienced the pandemic in different ways.

The seminar is arranged by the Research node in Medical humanities.

The seminar will be held in English.
