My research is partly aimed at Swedish film history, primarily the films of Ingmar Bergman. Another interest is British film history and the work of Scottish film director Lindsay Anderson, on whose works I published a monograph already in the 1990s. My research on Bergman is geared at how is films related to contemporary Swedish society: socially, politically and culturally. The hypothesis is that Bergman's films opposed the priorities of the Swedish Model Welfare State. The rationality and modernity of the new era were depicted in black. Yet another research interest is the Swedish actress Kristina Söderbaum, who worked in Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 40s. In spite of her international fame during the Second World War, she has been forgotten in Sweden. My research tries to answer the question: Why? Yet, another research project concerns Winston Churchill's relationship to film.

In the Research Portal you can search and find information about all active researchers, units, publications, projects, infrastructures, and more, to get an overview of Lund University research.
