Prior to coming to Lund, I studied history at the University of Oslo (BA/MA).

My project investigates how, why and what media influenced the city publics in Copenhagen and Christiania (present-day Oslo), ca. 1775-1815.

Conceptually, I understand media as the totality of the printed, the handwritten, and the oral. By having the two cities as my point of departure – instead of a specific audience, type of publication, or genre – my project will untangle how different media related to each other within the cityscapes, how media influenced the city publics, and how different actors utilised different media with different purposes. This approach will make it possible to see how a broad range of actors, practices and media coexisted.

Theoretically, I am inspired by the history of knowledge, actor-network theory (ANT), and practice-oriented approaches to (book) history.

I'm also currently co-writing an introductory book on the history of emotions, to be published in Norwegian in 2024.
