Book series that collect the University’s research have been around for a long time in Lund. Acta Universitatis Lundensis, Lund University’s annual journal, was published from 1864 and into the early 1900s. It was followed by various subdivisions, which were considered as parts of the overarching acta series.

Currently the acta name is no longer in use as a general designation for the publications in Lund. But a large number of publication series are produced, particularly within the humanities and theology. Some series are recent and bear witness to new, often interdisciplinary subjects. Other series have been around for many decades. This is apparent for example in the fact that our oldest title in this project is from 1933.

The series have been organised in different ways throughout the years. Between 1986 and 2000, the series were gathered under the name Lund University Press, which was a cooperation between Lund University and Studentlitteratur. Since the end of this cooperation, the series have been managed locally by the various departments, but this project means that the books will be made available in one place through this web page instead. Starting in September, they will also be for sale here.

In addition to the series that are now visible on the homepage, we plan to gradually create a heading called Terminated series, where older series that are no longer published can also be made available. Even if the page will never be exhaustive, we hope to be able to show the breadth and depth of research in the book publications of humanities and theology scholars.

The work on the publication series is a continuation of the HT study that in 2012 resulted in the report Ny strategi för vetenskaplig bokpublicering vid Lunds universitet (New strategy for scholarly book publication at Lund University – only in Swedish), which also proposed that Lund University start a university press. The report can be read in its entirety here (in Swedish only).
