Information about possible power shortages and temporary power cuts

Information for all employees at the HT faculties

Updated 2022-12-09

This winter there is a possible risk that there is not enough electricity at all hours in all parts of Sweden – a so-called power shortage. If necessary, Svenska kraftnät can issue a general warning about power shortages to the public. If you recieve such a warning, you should assume that a power cut can occur at any time.

In the event of a warning for a power shortage, you will receive information via e-mail from the university.

Things to think about in the event of a power cut

  • In the event of a power cut, all students and all staff must leave the university's premises. The exception is individuals with special tasks. These individuals are notified separately.
  • Keep in mind that elevators stop working in the event of a power cut. If you are dependant of the lift to be able to move around the premises, you should not stay in the buildings – contact your closest manager as soon as a warning about power shortage is issued.
  • If a classroom exam is interrupted or canceled due to a power cut, a new exam opportunity must be offered as soon as possible, primarily taking availability of premises into account.
  • A manual disconnection is estimated to lead to a power cut for 2-4 hours with a subsequent re-connection.
  • Some doors have battery operated locks, others will stop working in the event of a power cut. You will always be able to get out of rooms and houses, but not in, in the event of a power cut.
  • In case of emergency, you will find emergency numbers on the back of your LU card.
