On the topic of the use of books, this course in the history of reading analyzes the practices of reading in the Western world from the Middle Ages to the present. Special stress is placed on structural changes, wherefore reading cultures, groups of readers and book ownership are studied in relation to economic, social and gender conditions. Theories about readership practices are presented.
