Welcome to SOL!
The SOL building brings together several departments and units in the academic discipline of humanities. Here you can meet students and researchers from the Centre for Languages and Literature, the Department of Communication and Media and the Humanities Lab which is an interdisciplinary research technology and training facility. You can also find the following support units: The International Office, the Employment forum as well as the Student Union for Humanities and Theology (HTS).
SOL Special opening hours
Ascension Day and following weekend 2026
14 May (Ascension Day): Closed.
15 May: 8.30 a.m.–3.00 p.m.
16–17 May: Closed.
HT students have ordinary access (Monday–Friday 6.30 a.m.–10.00 p.m.; Saturday 10.00 a.m.–4.00 p.m.) with LU card and pin, however not on 14 May (Ascension Day) when the SOL building is closed also for students.
If you have an exam and the building is locked, please use the closest entrance, see Invigilated exams | Centre for Languages and Literature.
HT employees can always enter with LU card and pin code.

Monday–Friday: 7.30 a.m.–7.00 p.m.
Saturday: Closed.
Sunday: Closed.
HT employees can always enter with LU card and pin code.
HT students have ordinary access (Monday–Friday 6.30 a.m.–10.00 p.m.; Saturday 10.00 a.m.–4.00 p.m.) with LU card and pin code. NB! When the building is closed for the public the doors between the houses are locked.
The building is also open when there are any planned activities in it. Use the ordinary doors.

If there are any other planned activities, the closest entrance will be open.
