Individual study plans
Every student admitted to doctoral studies have to draw up an Individual Study Plan (ISP). The plan is an aid for the doctoral student’s education and dissertation work. It also documents the university’s and the doctoral student’s commitments towards one another.
General syllabi
Each doctoral education subject has a general syllabus with information about the education's content, structure, literature and any compulsory exams. In the general syllabi you can read about special entry requirements, prior knowledge and what other conditions apply in order to be admitted to a specific doctoral education subject. The syllabi also contain information about selection rules and which assessment criteria that apply.
Third-cycle courses
A doctoral programme consists of a thesis and of courses and other meriting activities that comprises 60 credits.
Public thesis defence and licentiate seminar
A doctoral education leads to a doctoral degree or a licentiate degree. The education ends with a public thesis defence or a licentiate seminar. On this page you will find information about the two degree types and can click on to read more.
