Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology

On this page you will find overview maps and practical information regarding the LUX-centre, such as information about accessibility, computer facilities and places to study.

LUX

The LUX-complex is made up of several separate buildnings which are linked together. Please ask our staff in the reception if you have any questions about directions or the location of your lecture room. They will gladly help you!

Here you will find the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History (1st and 2nd floor), the Department of History (2nd, 3rd and 4th floor) and the Caretaker’s Office (1st floor). There are also classrooms in the building and study places next to the stairwell.

Here you will find the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor), the Department of Philosophy (4th and 5th floor), and the Faculty Office (2nd and 3rd floor). You can also find classrooms and meeting rooms mainly on the 1st and 2nd floors. If you have brought a packed lunch, then we recommend the seating areas on the 1th floor or our student kitchenette that is located in the basement (floor 0) of the building.

Here you will find a large auditorium with 244 seats, a number of classrooms, meeting rooms as well as two computer rooms (2nd floor). This building also hosts the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences (3rd and 4th floor), the IT Unit (2nd floor) and the LUX Library and the Humanities Lab (first floor).

How to find your room (example LUX:C126)

C stands for Building C and 126 is the room number. If the room number starts with 0 this indicates the basement floor, 1 is the ground floor, 2 is one floor up from there and so on.

Accessibility

Outdoor tactile paving guides the visually impaired to the southern (A) and northern (B) entrances. These in turn connect to indoor tactile flooring. These entrances provide the easiest access to lifts and ramps leading to the various parts of LUX. Audio induction loops are available in the main LUX auditorium (LUX:C116) and in both lecture rooms LUX:C121 and LUX:C126.

LUX Library
There is an elevator to all floors at the LUX Library.Tactile paving for the visually impaired leads to the library from the main entrance at LUX. The information desk at the LUX Library is height adjustable. There is a height adjustable desk in the LUX Library's resource room which can be booked at library reception by those who have need of this in their work or study. Those who wish to use a standing table can find several available around the library. There are two quiet study rooms in the LUX Library. One of the rooms is a computer free zone. There are two accessible toilets in the LUX Library, one on the lower floor and one on the 2nd floor. On the ground floor the accessible toilet is located just outside the library.

Study places

At LUX there are several study places. In the LUX library you can find study places on all three floors. There are silent reading rooms on the mezzanine (balcony) and on floor 0. There is also a reading room on floor 1 adjacent to the atrium.

At LUX you can also find study places on every floor in Building A by the elevator and in Building B on the ground floor, LUX:B132 and LUX:B133. As a registered student at LUX, you are entitled to book meeting rooms via the reception. Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance. The meeting rooms are accessible to HT students from 07:45 to 19:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays. The meeting rooms in the library can only be used during the library’s opening hours.

Computer stations

The computer stations in the LUX library are accessible during library opening hours. You need your student account and password in order to log in to the computers.

Here you can find out how to activate your student account.

Consult the reception if you are unsure how to proceed. The study places in the computer rooms are accessible to HT students from 07:45 to 19:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays, unless the rooms are booked for teaching.

Please note that there is no data storage space on the computers in the computer rooms or in the library. If you want to a save file, you must bring a USB stick or similar storage device.

Student kitchenette

Since the student kitchenette is the student's concern, the Humanities and Theology Students' Union has drawn up the following guidelines:

The LUX student kitchenette is located on floor 0 in Building B. It is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave ovens and seating for eating a packed lunch - there is no tableware or cutlery. The microwave ovens are cleaned daily but in order to keep the kitchenette in an agreeable state, all students who use it are requested to clean up after themselves and take their lunchboxes home. Any lunchboxes left on the premises will be thrown away. If you spill anything in the microwave ovens or elsewhere, you are responsible for cleaning up.

We want the student kitchenette to be a pleasant and welcoming environment, free of dried up leftovers and smelly old lunchboxes. If the washing-up liquid is nished or there is no sponge/washing up brush - please contact the reception in the atrium.
