Your doctoral employment
On this part of the web page you will find information regarding your doctoral employment.
Sick leave and leave of absence
Sick leave, parental leave and parental benefit work the same way for doctoral students as it does for all other employees. Everyone also has a legal right to time off in certain other cases, such as in the event of a death or moving house. As a doctoral student, you can also receive leave for other activities, and you also have the option of having your working hours reduced.
Salary increases
The entry salary is the same for all doctoral students with a doctoral employment at the HT Faculties. The salary is reviewed regularly, usually once a year. In addition to the regular salary increase, a so-called salary increase in stages (etapphöjning) is also applied, which means that the salary is increased further when the doctoral student has completed specific parts of their education.
Extension of doctoral employment
Doctoral students admitted at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology are normally granted four year's doctoral employment. The employment during the four years are approved – renewed – annually for one or two years at a time. If you have been on certain types of leave, taught, or worked for the student union, your employment may be extended to compensate for the time you have not been able to undertake your doctoral studies.
