Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities
The Faculties of Humanities and Theology
We are actively engaged in the issues of gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity, in line with Swedish legislation and the strategic policy and objectives of Lund University. Our work in these areas is based on the premise that gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity improve the quality of the teaching and research pursued within the two faculties.
Efforts to ensure gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity within the Faculties of Humanities and Theology it´s expressed in many different ways. One of these is the active dissemination of information on the importance of keeping an open mind and reflecting on the opportunities offered by diversity, and its effects on teaching and research. In recruiting both staff and students, we strive to reflect the diversity of society as a whole. We offer career guidance to improve the distribution between the sexes, and to promote other kinds of equality. Equality is also a central factor in determining salaries. The prevention and combating of sexual harassment are other important parts of our work. We also offer our teaching staff and researchers opportunities for continued professional development, leading, among other things, to diversity and gender perspectives being a natural part of teaching and research. This affects both the content and practice of teaching and learning in higher education. Gender perspectives form an intrinsic analytical category in our courses, programmes and research projects. More detailed information on our efforts concerning gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity is available in Swedish, and can be found on our website:

The Faculty Board of Humanities and Theology addresses issues of gender equality, equal opportunities, and diversity through its working committee (AU). These matters are to be discussed by the AU on three predetermined occasions each year.
The Faculties´work and contact person (also SFAD coordinator) for Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities
The HT Faculties have allocated resources for a designated contact person (who also serves as the SFAD coordinator) responsible for following up on the implementation of the plan. The contact person presents matters to the working committee (AU) and the other boards when issues within these areas are addressed, and provides support in various aspects. The HT Faculties’ representative in the university’s council for Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities reports regularly to the SFAD coordinator and also attends meetings when these matters are discussed in the Faculties’ working Committee.
