Are you curious about how languages work and how people use them? Do you want to understand more about how language affects our thinking and communication? Then this course is for you!
Linguistics is about exploring the mysteries of language. In this course, you will get a broad introduction to linguistics. You will learn about speech sounds, words, and grammar in different languages, as well as how language is used in speech, signing, and writing. The course also provides insight into the role of language in society and how it evolves over time. You will get an overview of relevant questions and methods in linguistic research and learn to define and use linguistic terminology. By making you more aware of linguistic structures, the course will also help you to learn languages more easily.
