Course 7.5 credits • LINN19
Explore how language reflects and shapes the way we think. This course dives into how culture and the human mind interact with language—and why languages vary across the world.
This course is all about understanding the deep connection between language, culture, and human thought. You’ll explore how people from different backgrounds use language in unique ways, and why these differences matter.
You’ll learn how language is influenced by both our minds and our cultures, and how these factors create patterns in the way we speak. The course also introduces you to an important field in linguistics and how it connects with other areas like cognitive science and anthropology.
