Explore the soul of Poland through its literature—from medieval legends to modernist masterpieces. This course brings history, culture, and creativity to life. A journey through the words that shaped a nation.
This course is for you who are interested in Polish literature and culture. You do not need any prior knowledge of Polish—only general eligibility is required to take the course.
In this course you will trace the historical development of Polish literature from the Middle Ages to today. You will learn how literature appears in popular culture, including film, and analyse texts and their adaptations in historical and cultural contexts.
You will also learn how to apply perspectives from philosophy, literary studies, and film studies to deepen your understanding. During the course, you will evaluate ethical questions and different interpretations, connect literature and film to current social and political issues, and present your analyses both orally and in writing.
