Course
Course 7.5 credits • RHID86
How does Buddhism change when it engages with issues like peace, justice, and the environment? In this course, you will explore Buddhist movements that are actively involved in society – both in Asia and around the world.
This course introduces you to Engaged Buddhism – a modern form of Buddhism where faith and social action go hand in hand. You will learn about key Buddhist movements in Asia and beyond, and how they work to bring about change in society.
You will also reflect on how these movements describe themselves and how researchers analyse them. The course helps you understand Engaged Buddhism in a broader historical and global context.
