Course
Course 7.5 credits • SASH67
Are you curious about how media influences armed conflicts – and how conflicts shape the media? This course gives you the tools to understand and analyse the relationship between media and war, both historically and in the present.
You will be introduced to the subject of Media History and learn how to analyse and interpret media content, form and use from a historical perspective. You will also explore cultural, social and technological aspects of how war can be depicted.
You will study different types of media in the context of armed conflicts – past and present – and learn how to relate them to cultural, social and technological change. You will practise identifying different media expressions, both orally and in writing, and train your ability to critically assess media from a scholarly perspective.
