Learn Yiddish and explore a rich cultural heritage! Yiddish is a national minority language, and Lund University is the only university in Scandinavia that offers Yiddish. The course focuses on basic grammar, vocabulary, communication, speaking, writing, listening and translation.
This course is the first of two beginner-level Yiddish courses and requires no prior knowledge. The course prioritizes practical language acquisition, with a strong focus on communicative competence. This means that you will start by reading simple dialogues and texts that help you build a basic vocabulary and understand key grammatical structures. The language of instruction is English.
