FAQ
Assistant Professors
When registering your application in the recruitment system Varbi you will be asked to answer a number of questions relating to your subject of your doctoral degree and area(s) of research expertise. You are also asked to submit a Project plan description, outlining your planned research.
Applications from qualified applicants are assessed by an expert search committee, which will identify potential subject areas and Departments for the candidate, based on the above materials. For the successful candidate, final placement is decided by agreement between the future employee and the Department.
Applications from applicants who have obtained their doctoral degree within the last 7 years from the application deadline, will be prioritized. If you have documented special grounds, such as parental leave, military service, or illness, that have prevented you from working as a researcher after graduation, your doctoral degree may be considered even if it was awarded earlier. Kindly note that you are required to submit documentation in support of your invoked special grounds.
If none of the above special circumstances apply to you, but you obtained your doctoral degree more than seven years before the application deadline, you are still welcome to apply. However, please be aware that not meeting the criteria affects the overall competitiveness of your application.

If you are currently a Marie Curie fellow, or employed with other European funding, we warmly welcome you to apply: however, kindly note that Lund University cannot guarantee that you will be eligible for nomination to the upcoming call for VR’s programme.
We recommend using the English version of the application page throughout the entire process. Please note that the questions—and their order—may vary slightly between the English and Swedish versions. Unfortunately, this inconsistency cannot be corrected. To avoid confusion or potential errors in your application, do not switch between languages while completing your submission in Varbi.

Lund would then pay my current university my 20% salary, and I would remain a 100% employee with them, while fulfilling my obligations to Lund. Is this an arrangement you could consider?
The Joint Faculties are open to exploring similar arrangements, though we cannot guarantee this option in advance. Our preferred model is direct employment with us, as a valued member of the Joint Faculties.
