Series

The Absalon publication series produces work within the subjects of Comparative Literature and Film Studies. The series contains a varied output: scholarly anthologies, titles in the History of Literature and works about individual authors, tribute volumes, anthologies of poems, bibliographies and theoretical texts. 1–2 titles are published per year. Since it was founded, the editor of the publication series has been Professor Birthe Sjöberg.

The first book in Absalon came out in 1992. The title Moderna klassiker (Modern classics) referred to a public lecture series that had taken place at the Department of Comparative Literature during the 1990/91 academic year. There had long been a desire to create a publication series and the name Absalon was taken from the name of the building which housed the Department of Comparative Literature at the time. A bishop of Lund from the Middle Ages, Absalon represents an ancient scholarly tradition to which we are happy to associate ourselves.
