Executive functions are a set of cognitive skills enabling goal‑directed
behaviours. This thesis is about the evolution of these functions in Archosauria,
a group of animals including extant crocodylians and birds. It compiles four
studies on visual working memory and motor inhibitory control. Moreover,
these studies used one crocodylian and four avian species as models. Thus,
the findings shed light on the evolution of cognition during the transition from
reptiles to birds.
